White Announces $10,000 to Fund Lawrence County Strategic
Planning
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) today announced the awarding
of a $10,000 grant to help improve the economy and quality of life in Lawrence
County.
White said the grant, awarded to the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce,
will help pay to complete a long-term strategic plan for the county.
The plan consists of 55 action initiatives that more than 230 community
leaders developed in five public forums, the senator said.
"The people of Lawrence County worked hard to develop a strategic plan,
and this funding is crucial to its implementation," said White.
In addition to the chamber of commerce, the plan’s four sponsoring organizations
are the Lawrence County Board of Commissioners, the Lawrence County Economic
Development Corp., and the Lawrence County Board of the Pennsylvania Economy
League.
The grant was awarded by the state Department of Community and Economic
Development through its Community Revitalization Program. The competitive
grant program supports local initiatives that will improve the stability
of a community and enhance local economic conditions.
