White: 90,000 Old Tires to be Removed
in Summit Township
Harrisburg – Approximately 90,000 old tires will
be hauled away from a Summit Township site with a state grant being announced
today by Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21).
The tires will be removed from the Frank Miller
waste tire site and used as tire derived fuel by Slippery Rock Cement.
"This $148,000 grant will fund the removal of
all the tires from this site, eliminating possible environmental dangers,"
said White.
The grant was awarded by the state Department
of Environmental Protection through its Waste Tire Pile Remediation program. |
