White Announces Seneca Valley Environmental Education Grant

Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) today announced the awarding of a state grant to help train Seneca Valley School District teachers on the latest environmental issues and standards. The senator said the $9,850 grant will be used to train elementary school teachers on Project Learning Tree and the new state Environment and Ecology Standards. Teachers will then develop activities for forest discovery stations, she added. "This is an opportunity to help our children enjoy the natural world around them," said White.

The grant was awarded by the state Department of Environmental Protection through the Environmental Education Grant Program of Act 24 of 1993. The program assists local school districts and teachers in providing students with a comprehensive understanding of ecology and its role in daily life.
