White Announces Funding for Kennerdell Water System Study
(Harrisburg) - A study of the Kennerdell water system will be financed through a $10,000 state grant State Senator Mary Jo White (R-Venango) announced today. The grant was awarded to the Venango Economic Development Corporation under the Community Revitalization Program, administered by the Department of Community and Economic Development.
White worked to acquire the funding after learning that contaminants were found in the Kennerdell Community Water System. The spring-fed system is under a "boil water order" from the Department of Environmental Protection.
"This grant will enable Kennerdell to evaluate their water system to determine if the water residents use in their homes is safe," said White.
The funding will be used to analyze the hydro-geological and engineering viability of the existing springs. The study is necessary to determine the long-term ability of Kennerdell to rely on these springs for safe drinking water.
