White: Butler County, Venango Regional Airports to Receive
$700,000 in Block Grants
Harrisburg – Butler County Airport and Venango Regional
Airport will receive more than $700,000 in state and federal block grant funds
for airport upgrades, Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) said today.
“Butler County Airport and Venango Regional Airport are
two key transportation components in our region,” said White. “It is important to maintain service and
safety at these facilities.”
White said the funds were being awarded through the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Block Grant and Aviation Development
Program.
Butler
County Airport will receive $598,500 to construct a northwest hangar, ramp and
taxiway, said White. The state share is
$31,500.
White said
Venango Regional Airport will receive $161,500 to rehabilitate the airport
parking lot. The state share is
$8,500.
“Significant
local, state and federal investments are necessary to develop and maintain Pennsylvania’s
airport system,” said White. “It’s good
to see that tax dollars are returning to our region to support airports here.”
