White: Butler City to Receive Flood Protection Grant 

Harrisburg – The City of Butler will receive a $6,500 grant to assist in the improvement of the Sullivan Run Flood Protection Project, Senator Mary Jo White (R-21) announced today. 

The grant will be used to improve the hydraulics of the natural channel of the Sullivan Run Flood Protection Project.  Senator White and State Representative Guy Travaglio (D-11) are currently working to release additional funds from the Capital Budget to upgrade and extend the current stream channel and retaining wall.  During wet weather periods, inadequate flood control measures can lead to basement flooding and an overload of the Butler Area Sewer Authority’s sewer system. 

The $6,500 grant was awarded through the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Flood Protection Grant Program.
