White Announces
Community Grants for Clarion, Venango Counties
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo
White (R-21) today announced the awarding of several state grants to aid
community projects in Clarion and Venango counties.
“From assisting public works
projects to increasing safety for school students, these grants will help our
communities fund worthy projects,” said White.
Clarion County
Grants
- Clarion County
Commissioners, $10,000 for the Beaver Creek Dam Project.
- Clarion County Branch YMCA, $7,000 to help fund the Teens to Action Club.
- Clarion County Historical Society, $30,000 to help purchase a building to use
as a Clarion Downtown Visitor’s Center.
- Redbank Valley Park Commission, $20,000 to purchase new playground equipment.
- Rimersburg Borough, $12,000 to allow Rimersburg Borough to address a safety
issue. Traffic safety devices will be
purchased to slow traffic speed at the intersection of School Street and Main
Street (State Route 68), which is a major crossing point for children walking
to and from school.
Venango County
- Franklin School
District, $12,000 for a start-up heart monitor program. The school district will purchase heart rate
monitors and exercise equipment for the physical education department. The
program will help students become more aware of cardiovascular fitness by
monitoring heart rates at rest and during physical activity.
The senator said the grants were
approved by the state Department of Community and Economic Development, through
its Community Revitalization Grant program.
“It’s important that state and local
entities work as partners to strengthen communities,” said White.
