White Appointed to National Commerce and Communications Committee
Harrisburg
– State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) has been tapped to serve on a national panel
examining federal commerce and communications issues and how they affect states
like Pennsylvania.
White was
appointed to the Commerce and Communications Committee of the Assembly on
Federal Issues, which is part of the National Conference of State Legislatures
(NCSL).
“Federal
laws regulating commerce and communications have a great impact on states like
Pennsylvania, especially in the information age, when commerce and
communications are so interrelated,” said White. “I look forward to working with the committee to monitor federal
policy on these issues – advocating legislation that will benefit states, and
heading off proposals that don’t warrant support.”
White was
appointed by Senate President Pro Tempore Robert Jubelirer to represent the
state Senate on the committee.
NCSL,
founded in 1975 and composed of all legislators and legislative staff in the
nation, is a bipartisan organization representing the interests of states. It
opposes unfunded federal mandates, unnecessary preemption of state laws, and
intrusion on state revenues.
