White: Apply Now for Property Tax/Rent Rebates
Deadline to file is July 1, 2002
Harrisburg -- Applications are now
available for the state’s popular Property Tax and Rent Rebate Program and
qualified individuals should file as soon as possible, according to Sen. Mary
Jo White (R-21).
To qualify for a rebate, applicants
must have annual household incomes of less than $15,000. The program is open
to: state residents age 65 or older; widows and widowers age 50 or older; and,
totally disabled people 18 or older.
The deadline for filing an
application is July 1, the senator said.
“The state processes the rebates on
a first come, first served basis,” White said. “Filing early won’t make a
difference in the amount of a rebate, but it will determine how quickly the
rebate check will be sent out by the state.”
To receive an application or find
out more about the program, stop by or contact the senator’s district offices
at 340 South Main Street, Butler (724-282-1234), 1256 Liberty Street, Suite B,
Franklin (814-432-4345), and 613 Main Street, Clarion (814-226-5343).
