White:
Applications Being Accepted for $2,500 Graduate Study Scholarship
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo
White (R-21) today announced the availability of a scholarship for individuals
entering graduate study for the first time in the fall of 2002.
White said scholarships of $2,500
each will be awarded to persons pursuing an advanced degree in political
science, public administration or a closely related field. The funds are provided by the Women’s Network
of the National Conference of State Legislatures and Sprint Corp.
“Political science and public
administration are important, fulfilling fields that benefit from the fresh
perspectives of young, talented graduates,” said White. “These scholarships will help deserving
graduate students finance their education and later contribute to the
community.”
White serves on NCSL’s Commerce and Communications
Committee of the Assembly on Federal Issues.
Awarding of the scholarships will be
based on a variety of factors, including scholastic achievement, written
statements by the applicant, community and school involvement, and letters of
recommendation. A minimum 3.5 GPA in undergraduate study is required.
Applications are due no later than
June 14, 2002.
Application packets are available
online at www.sprint.com/ncslscholarship/index.jsp,
