White: Deadline Near for 2002 PA Senior Arts Festival Entries

Entries accepted through April 19.

Harrisburg – The deadline is approaching for talented senior citizens to compete in the 16th Annual Senior Arts Festival, according to state Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21), who said the contest showcases the work of Pennsylvania’s best older artists.

White said area residents age 60 and older are encouraged to enter their drawings, paintings and photographs in the festival, which takes place in Harrisburg from May 20 through June 20.  Entries will be accepted through April 19.

“Our region is home to many talented seniors, and this festival is a great opportunity for their works to be exhibited in a public forum,” White said, explaining that entries are displayed in the East Wing of the state Capitol during the month-long festival.

Registration materials can be obtained by contacting the Pennsylvania Council on Aging at (717) 783-1924.
