White: Deadline for PENNVEST Applications is Sept. 4
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo
White (R-21) is reminding communities that the deadline to apply for the latest
round of PENNVEST funding is Sept. 4.
PENNVEST – the Pennsylvania
Infrastructure Investment Authority – makes low-interest loans available to
communities to help pay for drinking water, wastewater and storm water
projects. This year, $319 million was budgeted
for PENNVEST projects, and $215.2 million is still available.
“Water and sewer systems are very
important to the health of a community, but very expensive to build and
maintain,” said White. “Cities,
townships, boroughs and authorities that serve them can pay for upgrades and
new construction with the help of a PENNVEST loan.”
White said that so far this year,
PENNVEST has funded $103.8 million in community projects. The next deadline for submitting
applications after Sept. 4 is Jan.15, 2003.
