Sen. White Appointed to PA
Public Television Commission
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) has been
appointed to the commission that oversees Pennsylvania's public
television stations.
White this week was named a member of the 20-member
Pennsylvania Public Television Network Commission by Senate President
Pro Tempore Robert Jubelirer.
The Pennsylvania
Public Television Network Commission provides technical support and
financial grants to the Commonwealth's eight public television
stations, including WQED in Pittsburgh.
The commission
oversees operation of a two-way fiber optic network that links its
Network Operations Center in Hershey with the public television
stations located in Pittsburgh, Erie, Scranton, Harrisburg, Allentown,
State College and Philadelphia.
"Public television is a wonderful source of information and
entertainment, and I'm looking forward to helping Pennsylvania's
stations meet their commitment to the public," said White.
The Pennsylvania
Public Television Network is an independent agency of state
government.
