White Appointed to University of Pittsburgh Graduate
School of Public Health's Board of Visitors
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White
(R-21) has been appointed to a panel to provide input on the operation
of the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health.
The senator was appointed to the
school's Board of Visitors by Chancellor Mark Nordenberg.
Each major school and academic center
of the University of Pittsburgh has a Board of Visitors comprised of
prominent persons from education, industry, government and the
community. The boards provide university officials with advice and
insight on educational and research programs, and provide input on
planning.
"I am honored to accept this
appointment to the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public
Health's Board of Visitors," said White. "There is an array of public
health issues facing Pennsylvania and society in general, and the work
of universities such as the University of Pittsburgh will help shape
policy and improve public health in the coming years."
White is a member of the Senate Public
Health and Welfare Committee. She has long been concerned about rural
health care, formerly serving on the Community Health Action Team and
chairing the Nursing Advisory Committee of Clarion University. She also
serves on the Board of Trustees of Westminster College.
