Senate Approves White/Madigan Legislation Establishing Clean Vehicles Program

Harrisburg – The state Senate today approved Senate Bill 1025.  Introduced by Senator Roger Madigan, chair of the Senate Transportation Committee, and Senator Mary Jo White, chair of the Senate Environmental Resources & Energy Committee, the bill would establish the Clean Vehicles Program in statute. 

Yesterday, the state Senate adopted an amendment to Senate Bill 1025 that would ensure Pennsylvanians retain the ability to purchase vehicles meeting either the federal Tier II emission standards, or those crafted by the California Air Resources Board.  The legislation also sets up an enhanced stakeholder process to provide a comprehensive review of the Commonwealth's air quality attainment needs. 

Senate Bill 1025 now goes to the House of Representatives for consideration.
