Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White
(R-21) and Sen. Sean Logan (D-45) will hold a news
conference Tuesday to discuss their Senate Resolution
designating the week of June 5 through 11, 2006 as "Feed
Your Neighbor Week" in Pennsylvania.
The event will take place Tuesday,
June 6, 11:45 a.m. near the Capitol fountain.
Under the Senate Resolution being
introduced by Senator White and Senator Logan, Feed Your
Neighbor Week "is set aside for residents of this
Commonwealth to contribute to local and regional food
pantries which rely on donated food and volunteer
services."
The news conference will coincide
with the "Bag Hunger" campaign by the Central Pennsylvania
Food Bank and GIANT Food Stores. Volunteers will be on
location to offer complimentary bag lunches to promote
"National Hunger Awareness Day.”" Now in its fifth year,
the day serves as a platform for domestic hunger-relief
organizations to raise the level of awareness about the
pervasive issue of hunger in America.
