White Announces $2.3 Million in State Aid for
Rouseville Biodiesel Project
Wastewater
system upgrade will allow project at former Pennzoil site to
move forward.
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White
(R-21) today announced the approval of $2.3 million in state
assistance to upgrade Rouseville Borough's wastewater system
and allow the Enviro-Biodiesel project to move forward.
White said the assistance comes in the
form of a $1.78 million grant and $594,000 loan. The funds
will be used to construct an ultraviolet water disinfection
system that can process an average of 240,000 gallons per
day. In addition to serving 244 borough properties, the
system will serve the planned Enviro-Biodiesel plant at the
site of the former Pennzoil Refinery on Route 8. The New
Castle firm will convert soybean oil into fuel, and the
Rouseville site will help make Pennsylvania one of the
leading producers of biodiesel in the nation.
"Securing this assistance was vital for
a project that will create jobs, contribute to America's
energy independence, and put an old site to good use," said
White.
The loan was approved by the
Commonwealth Financing Authority, created by the legislature
in 2004 to fund up to $1 billion in economic development
initiatives across Pennsylvania.
In addition to allowing the
Enviro-Biodiesel project to proceed, the system upgrade will
allow Rouseville to add more customers to the system from
surrounding areas, White noted.
