White: Grants Will Pay for
Equipment, Renovations at Three Senior Centers
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White
(R-21) today announced the approval of state funds to pay
for new equipment and renovations at three senior community
centers in the 21st Senatorial District.
White said the grants were recently
approved by the state Department of Aging for centers in
Clarion and Erie counties.
The senator noted that senior centers
provide a broad range of services, including nutritious
meals, health screenings, consumer education, creative arts,
exercise programs, and special events. White said the
following grants would help improve service at the centers:
- Rimersburg Senior Center, Clarion
County -- $21,000 to repave and enlarge the parking lot
- Corry Senior Center, Erie County --
$1,000 to purchase computer equipment
- Union City Center, Erie County --
$2,700 to purchase computer equipment and replace two lift
chairs
"Senior community centers are a great
asset, and it's a pleasure to announce these state grants
for three centers in the 21st District," said White. "I
encourage older citizens to check out and support the senior
center in their community. They have a lot more to offer
than many people realize."
