White Announces Additional Funding for Sewage, Water System
Upgrades
Harrisburg – State Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21) today announced the approval of
nearly $22 million in grants and loans to help pay for sewage treatment and
water projects in the 21st Senatorial District.
White said the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST)
announced the following funding:
- CLARION COUNTY -- $2.2 million grant for the project
to expand the Foxburg Treatment Plant and upgrade its sewer lines. (The
project was also awarded $2 million last week under the state H2O PA
program.)
- VENANGO COUNTY -- $4.3 million grant for 2008
Pleasantville Borough Sewage Treatment Plant upgrades, and an additional
$1.49 million grant and $215,417 loan for the 2009 Pleasantville Elevated
Water Tank project.
- ERIE COUNTY -- $13.6 million loan to the North East
Borough Sewer Authority to help pay for construction costs associated with
its Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade and expansion. (The project was also
awarded $5 million last week under the state H2O PA program.)
Much of the funding was provided from the federal stimulus program, the
American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). However, the North East Borough
loan is through PENNVEST’s traditional Clean Water Revolving Loan Fund.
"This funding will enable critical water and sewer improvements to proceed,
while minimizing the cost to local ratepayers," said White.
