Committee Votes to Protect State
Park Leases Amid DCNR Budget Threats
Harrisburg – The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy
Committee, chaired by Sen. Mary Jo White (R-21), today acted to ensure that
existing leases will be honored in the event the state Department of
Conservation and Natural Resources chooses to shut down or curtail state park or
forest operations.
Senate Bill 974, sponsored by Sen. Don White (R-41), would guarantee that
the Commonwealth will honor its commitment to non-profit and other private
organizations that regularly utilize state park and forest lands.
The committee also approved:
Senate Bill 1034, which adds areas adjacent to, or an expansion of, an
existing coal refuse disposal site to the list of preferred sites for coal
refuse disposal; and
House Bill 1798, which reallocates funding available for use under the H2O
PA infrastructure grant program.
